About Rainbow Hot Springs
General:
Rainbow Hot Springs is a beautiful Colorado hot springs location secluded in the Weminuche Wilderness Area. You have to hike to get there, but you will be rewarded with a therapeutic soak, next to a fast-flowing mountain stream. The alpine views are spectacular.
Facility:
This primitive Colorado hot springs requires a bit of a hike to get there, about a 2-3 hour trek through the woods. Beginning at the start of the Rainbow trail at 8,160 feet, you gain nearly 1000 feet of vertical by the time you reach Rainbow Hot Springs, at 8,990 ft.
There are two separate hot springs pools built by previous hikers. The lower pool is about 20 ft long and 8 ft wide and lies right on the shore of the river. Its temperature is about 95 degrees F. The smaller upper pool is closer to the source of the hot springs and therefore hotter at 105 degrees.
There are several nice camp sites located around Rainbow Hot Springs.
Atmosphere:
Secluded wilderness setting. Popular among local hikers, so probably won't have place to yourself.
